Google introduced Chrome extensions, more or less like Toolbar plugins, that can be installed from their gallery. Extensions are like small software programs that run within your browser without having to open up a new browser. The beauty of these programs is that they are highly customizable and have all the features of a rich text HTML page. I wrote an extension myself (well, not really rewrite it from scratch) by extending one of my iGoogle gadgets Global Index Watch and I uploaded it to the Extension gallery.
