Today, I see a change in the way my Yahoo! Mail page looks.. I clicked on "Check Mail", which I usually do once every 15 mins atleast :) and I see a new page asking me if I want to try the Yahoo! Mail beta version. I just went - "Why not?" I have read about the change when Yahoo! announced a couple of months back that they were switching to Outlook type of webpages and I have been waiting to try that.. Today, I have been chosen :D Feels good to say that.. Now, I dont have to check for new mail, as Yahoo! does it for me once every 10 mins.
I am very impressed with the features provided over there.. Some of the links still direct you to old Yahoo pages, for eg: the "Options" link. Yahoo! Mail beta has the Eudora style tabbed panes, where each mail opens in a different pane, if you choose not to see it in the Reading pane. Drag and Drop functionality is too cool... This beta version is much better than GMail. I almost switched my primary acct to GMail when I noticed the then new features Google came up with. But, I knew this was coming and I sticked to my Yahoo! acct and I am glad I did.
Oh, one more feature of this beta version is the RSS Feeds data coming into your Mail acct, which don't add up to your Inbox but will still be accessible from logging on to Yahoo! Mail.
Coming to letdowns, One thing I was expecting from this version is the GMail type of conversation storage and display as opposed to traditional folder type mail organizing.
Overall, I love it.. Here is a link to the new features offered in the Beta version, in case u dont have the beta yet..
